EU JUSTICE AND HOME AFFAIRS AGENCIES: HISTORICAL ASPECT AND CURRENT TRENDS

The article deals with the analysis of the evolution of EU justice and internal affairs agencies, as well as the modern principles of their functioning. The study presents the key EU security and justice institutions, their main tasks and powers, including CEPOL, EMCDDA, EASO, eu-LISA, Eurojust, Europol and Frontex. Attention is paid to the impact of the challenges faced by EU countries in the process of preventing and countering international crimes on the list of functions and competencies of justice and internal affairs agencies. In addition, the trends regarding the expansion of the powers of agencies and bodies of internal affairs and justice, their generalization and delimitation into national and pan-European ones are noted. The special role of coordination and prompt information exchange in the context of effective counteraction to cross-border crimes is indicated.
